RadLab: Frequently Asked Questions

Is RadLab an action? Can I use it to run actions I already own?

RadLab is NOT an action. It actually has nothing to do with actions, and can’t run our actions or anyone else’s. In order to get those nifty, instant previews, we had to build something entirely different, from the ground up. It’s a Photoshop Filter Plugin, technically. RadLab does a lot of the same things actions do, only faster and easier.

What is a stylet?

Stylets are little modules of style. They’re the effects that you apply to your photos. Every stylet has its own set of controls that allow you to tweak the way it behaves. You can combine any number of stylets into a Recipe for your image.

What is a recipe?

A recipe is a combination of stylets that you create and save to use again and again. Once you save a recipe, it will appear in your Recipes Library.

Can I use RadLab on any size image?

RadLab automatically adjusts itself to work on different image sizes and shapes. While some Photoshop Actions behave differently on different size images, RadLab produces the same result on any size image.

Can I use RadLab to make basic adjustments to my photo?

You bet! RadLab includes controls for brightness, contrast and color temperature.

Is it non-destructive?

Yes. RadLab uses Photoshop Smart Filters to allow you to make changes to your recipe or edit at any time. Learn How »

How do I uninstall RadLab?

  1. Also in the Applications folder, delete the Totally Rad folder, which contains the RadLab program itself.

  2. (Optional) - If you’re comfortable using Terminal, you can remove your recipes and other data as well. This data is stored at ~/Library/Application Support/Totally Rad, and you can remove the entire folder. This folder isn’t accessible through Finder.
