What is a Filter?
Filters are one-tap ways to transform your photo in PicTapGo. They can be used to fix basic problems (for instance, the photo is too dark), or artistic enhancements (by changing the color rendering or "feel" of a photo). You can combine as many filters and adjustments as you want, and every filter allows some degree of customization (even it it's just the strength of the effect on the photo). For uncomplicated photo editing, it doesn't get any better than PicTapGo filters. Check out a quick overview in this video, and be sure to read the end of this article for some hidden tips and features.
Browsing Filters
PicTapGo's filter thumbnails show how your photo would change if you applied that filter at full strength. To browse filters, from the Edit Home screen, press Filters to scroll down to the filter grid (or just swipe up). Tapping a filter thumbnail will open that filter in the Filter Editor, where you can fine-tune before applying the image.
The Filter Editor
Choosing a filter from the grid opens up the Filter editor, where you can dial in the perfect look and commit your changes to the photo. Swipe the filter thumbnail carousel to change filters, or tap a filter category to jump to that section. When you're done, tap the checkmark to apply the filter, or tap the X button to cancel.
Filter Strength and Customization
You can adjust the strength of the effect with the slider. Tap the button to the right of the slider to reveal additional controls for customizing a filter's look (the exact controls available vary per filter).
Favorites
Favorites is a special category at the beginning of the filter list. To add or remove a filter from your favorites, just tap the star icon at the bottom of the screen when that filter is selected in the carousel.
Before / After
You can tap the eye icon below and to the right of the preview image to see the image before the current filter is applied.
Additional controls
Some additional controls and shortcuts are also available in the Filters screen to speed up your workflow.
- Double-Tap the image to confirm (same as pressing the check button)
- Pull down on the image to cancel (same as pressing the X button)
- Press and hold on the right side of the image to see the for previous step (before the current filter). This is the same as pressing the eye icon (described in Before / After, above)
- Press and hold on the left side of the image to see the original image before ANY edits are applied - the original image from your camera roll.
Most Used Filters
You can enable a special filter category called Most Used via a switch in PicTapGo's settings. This category appears after your Favorites category, and will include your most frequently used filters.
