PixelSugar stores its edit data in .pxs sidecar files, which are written to disk in the same folder as the image it belongs to.
The .pxs files are NOT the saved / exported images! Though their thumbnails show your image after editing, only PixelSugar knows how to read these files, and you can't open them in any other application.
If you rename your images after editing them in PixelSugar, be sure to rename the sidecar files with the same name (i.e. MyFile.jpg and MyFile.jpg.pxs).
If you move your images, be sure to copy the .pxs files as well.
Why .pxs Sidecar Files?
When designing PixelSugar, we wanted to avoid the hassle of making users manage catalogs. We wanted users to be able to simply open an image and begin editing, without importing the file first. The .pxs sidecar approach allows us to provide non-destructive editing, and makes it clear to users where the edit data is stored, so you can manage it yourself if you choose.
